JPS says factors to be taken into account, before any shut down of grid.
The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) says it will not shut down the grid unless it has no choice.
CEO and President of JPS Hugh Grant gave the assurance while speaking at a press briefing yesterday.
According to Mr. Grant there are factors to be taken into consideration before the grid is shut down.
He explained that downed trees on power lines is among the factors which makes the grid unstable.
He said when these factors persist then the system operations team will make a decision to shut down the grid.
However, he assured that JPS will do all that it can before making the decision to shut down the grid.
He said however that JPS must prioritize the safety of customers and the safety of the grid.
