Jamaican man fined over JMD $1.2M for cannabis offences in Barbados
The Barbados Police Service has arrested a 36-year-old Jamaican man for cannabis-related offences, committed on October 17.
He is Andre O’shane Williams of Howell Content, York Town in May Pen, Clarendon.
Williams was charged with possession of cannabis, trafficking of cannabis, intent to supply and importation of cannabis.
According to the Barbados Police Service’s Facebook page, the total estimated weight of the cannabis is 2.6 kilograms, or about 5 pounds and 11 ounces, with an estimated street value of BBD $20,800.
That’s over JMD $1.7 million.
Williams appeared in the Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
He pleaded guilty to the offences and was fined BBD $15,000, that’s JMD $1.2 million, payable immediately.
If he defaults on the payment, he will serve nine months at the Barbados Prison Service.
