More than 140 Jamaicans receive national awards for service to the country
More than 140 Jamaicans were recognised today for outstanding service to the nation, across various sectors during the national honours and awards ceremony.
Heading the list of recipients are: businessman Keith Duncan, Local Government Minister, Desmond McKenzie and former Managing Director of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, Dr. Marlene Street Forest.
The three were conferred with the Order of Jamaica – the highest honour presented this year.
Also recognised was the late journalist, Barbara Gayle, who received a posthumous award, the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Commander (CD).
Olympic medalist, Yohan Blake was also conferred with the CD for his contribution to sports.
In total, 43 individuals were awarded the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Officer (OD) among a broad group of honourees from public service, music, business, media and other sectors.
