STATIN: Jamaica’s population now at 2.7m
Jamaica’s population now stands at 2,774 thousand,538.
This is a 2.8% increase over the 2011 census.
The Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) released the delayed results for the 2022 housing and population census today.
Director of censuses demographic and social statistics, Stacy Ann Robinson explained that the movements in the population are influenced by births, deaths and migration.
Citing five census periods from 1982 to 2022 she noted that in 1982, the population count stood at 2.1m, compared to 2.7m in the 2022 count.
She outlined data on the demographic processes that influenced the population movement, which included a reduction in births.
