Reggae Boyz back in charge of Group B after dominant 4–0 win over Bermuda
Jamaica’s senior men’s football team regained control of its World Cup qualifying campaign on Tuesday night, delivering a commanding 4–0 victory over Bermuda in their crucial CONCACAF Final Round fixture at the National Stadium.
The Reggae Boyz, after a being frustrated in opening 20 minutes, broke the deadlock in the 24th minute when Bermuda captain Dante Leverock turned the ball into his own net. Just two minutes later, the hosts doubled their advantage — Renaldo Cephas burst down the left flank and squared for Bobby Reid, who slid in to finish from close range.
Cephas remained a constant threat, and in the 35th minute, his persistence paid off again. The winger took on two defenders before sending in a precise cross for Shamar Nicholson to tap home Jamaica’s third. Substitute Dujuan “Whisper” Richards then put the result beyond doubt with a tidy strike in the 76th minute, capping off a dominant display.

The victory lifts Jamaica to the top of Group B with nine points, while Bermuda’s defeat officially ends their hopes of advancing. Curaçao now sit second on eight points following a 1–1 draw with Trinidad and Tobago, who remain third on five.
Speaking after the match, Reggae Boyz head coach Steve McClaren praised his team’s response to their previous loss.
“I think it was a great response from the team. What we wanted was to be back in control of the group — gotta thank Trinidad for getting a result against Curaçao. There’s still a lot of work to do, but we’re pleased with the reaction and the performance.”
McClaren highlighted the team’s dominance in possession and attack, noting that Jamaica had 75 percent possession and 28 shots on goal.
“You couldn’t ask for much more, maybe apart from a few more goals — but let’s not be greedy,” he added. “Now it’s about the players staying healthy, getting minutes at their clubs, and coming back ready for what are two absolutely massive games in a few weeks.”
The Reggae Boyz will continue their World Cup qualifying campaign on November 13, when they travel to face Trinidad and Tobago, while Bermuda host Curaçao on the same day.
