Harbour View and Treasure Beach secure vital wins to climb out of relegation zone
Former champions Harbour View and newly promoted Treasure Beach both earned crucial 1–0 victories on Monday evening to pull themselves away from the relegation zone, as Match Day 7 of the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League came to a close.
Playing in the opening game of the double-header at the Waterhouse Mini Stadium, Harbour View edged Dunbeholden FC courtesy of a 7th-minute strike from Trayvone Reid. The win, their second of the campaign, lifted the Stars of the East from second-to-last up to 9th place in the standings on 8 points.
In the feature encounter, Treasure Beach recorded their second win of the campaign with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Arnett Gardens. Jahiem Harris netted the game’s only goal in the 82nd minute, sealing three vital points for the St. Elizabeth-based side.
Treasure Beach, who began the day in 11th position, are now 8th in the table, also on 8 points but ahead of Harbour View on goal difference.
At the top of the standings, Montego Bay United remain in pole position on 16 points, followed by Racing United and Portmore United, who are both on 12 points. Rounding out the top six are Waterhouse, defending champions Cavalier, and Chapelton Maroons, each sitting on 10 points.
