8 people including a person of interest arrested during operations in St. Ann yesterday

Eight people, including a man who had been listed as a person of interest, were arrested during two separate operations in St. Ann, yesterday.

A sub-machine gun, along with dozens of rounds of ammunition, were also seized.

Head of the St. Ann police division, Senior Superintendent Carlos Russell, said the person of interest was being sought by the St. Andrew North police in relation to a murder.

The man is among six people held during the first operation in Bamboo at about 7 A.M.

A second man, who was wanted on an outstanding civil court warrant, was taken into custody.

A third man and three women were arrested for breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act.

The other operation at about 2 P.M., was carried out in Green Acres, Mammee Bay.

During a search, police reportedly found a Kel-Tec sub-machine gun, fitted with a magazine containing sixteen 9 millimetre rounds of ammunition at the back of a premises.

One Glock magazine with twelve 9 millimetre rounds of ammunition, as well as eleven 5.56 rounds of ammunition were also seized.

Two people were arrested in connection with the find.
