PM Holness calls for more support for small island developing states in accessing predictable climate resilience financing
Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness has called for more support for small island developing states, in accessing predictable climate resilience financing.
He lamented that efforts by SIDS to mitigate the effects of climate change are being hammered by limited access to financing.
The Prime Minister was delivering Jamaica’s national address at the United Nations General Assembly in the United States of America.
He noted that Jamaica has demonstrated leadership in climate action despite limited resources.
Dr. Holnes said the loss and damage fund, set up at COP28, is grossly inadequate.
He added that the global financing system is flawed.
