35 Haitians repatriated this morning
A group of 35 Haitians was sent back to their homeland this morning, after illegally landing at a beach in Kensington, Portland on Monday.
Police say they received reports of the vessel with the Haitians on Monday morning and responded.
Initial reports said that 21 Haitians were arrested on Monday, while the search continued for others.
Speaking with IRIE FM News this morning, Head of the Portland Police Superintendent Ainsley Mccarthy said 35 Haitians were repatriated early this morning aboard a Jamaica Defence Force Vessel.
In the meantime, Superintendent Mccarthy is urging citizens not to house the Haitians, as more than 30 of the Haitians who arrived on Monday tested positive for malaria.
He said the police remain on the look out for other Haitians.
