Search continues for Haitians after illegal landing in Kensington Portland yesterday; 21 in custody
The search continues for the remaining Haitians who reportedly landed illegally in Kensington, Portland yesterday.
It’s reported that the group consists of more than 20 Haitians.
Speaking to IREI FM News last evening, Head of the Portland Police, Superintendent Ainsley McCarthy noted that 21 Haitians are in custody.
He said the search continued last night to locate others who might have been aboard the vessel.
According to Superintendent McCarthy, the police received a call at about 11:00 A.M., yesterday about the vessel.
He said other agencies are to come on board today to have them processed.
Yesterday’s arrival follows another in May this year, with over 40 Haitians landing on a beach in Long Bay, Portland.
