Justice Minister commends Parish Court Judges for ongoing efforts to reduce the backlog of cases
Minister of Justice and Legal and Constitutional Affairs, Delroy Chuck has commended Parish Court Judges for their ongoing efforts to reduce the backlog of cases in the judicial system .
Speaking on day two of the Judiciary, Learning and Growth Session, yesterday Mr. Chuck said, the progress reflects a strong commitment to delivering timely justice.
Mr. Chuck highlighted the growing use of data within the justice system, noting that it plays a critical role in improving efficiency and accountability.
He noted that the Chief Justice continues to monitor court performance, recognising those that meet or surpass the 100% case clearance rate.
The Justice Minister also said, that rewarding top-performing parish courts has encouraged healthy competition and reinforced the mandate to dispose of matters quickly.
Mr. Chuck reaffirmed, that his Ministry remains ready to support the judiciary, in achieving and surpassing its performance targets.
The three-day event from September 19 to 21 was held under the theme ‘Partnering to Transform Justice: Advancing Fairness, Efficiency and Public Trust.’
