2 political commentators say the Cabinet appointments suggest that Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness was for the most part, pleased with the work of the ministers in the previous administration.

The Cabinet members were named this afternoon with many ministers retaining their portfolios.

Two ministers who served last in the 2016 administration were also returned.

They are Robert Montague, who has been given responsibility for Land Titling and Settlements in the renamed Ministry of Economic Growth and Infrastructure Development.

And Dr. Andrew Wheatley who now has responsibility for Science, Technology and Special Projects in the Office of the Prime Minister.

Speaking with IRIE FM News this afternoon Political Commentator Kevin O’Brien Chang said it is clear that Dr. Holness did not see the need to make significant changes.

And, Commentator Linton Gordon agreed that the minor changes are a clear reflection that Dr. Holness is satisfied with the performance of his ministers.

He said the few changes appear to be very strategic.

Mr. Gordon opined that Dr. Holness decided to re-appoint Mr. Montague and Dr. Wheatley because he believes they have specific skills which are useful to his administration.

He urged both returnees to use the opportunity well.

And, turning to the Senate appointments, both commentators welcomed the addition of Keith Duncan.

They expressed different views on the appointment of Christian Tavares Finson, the son of former Senate President Tom Tavares Finson.

Mr. Chang believes this might be controversial.

While Mr. Gordon does not see this as an issue.
