A warning has been issued about the disturbing rise in sexual offences across the island.

Senior Judge Leighton Pusey described the issue as an indictment on the Jamaican society.

He was speaking at the Ceremonial Opening of the Home Circuit Court in Downtown Kingston, this morning.

While outlining that these cases are not new to the Court, Justice Pusey stressed that the issue is increasing and receiving wider public attention.

He underscored the seriousness of the offences, regardless of the age of victims, but expressed particular concern about children being involved.

He reminded Jamaicans that everyone must work together to address the issue.
