“It is a disaster waiting to happen”

That’s the cry from several persons who live and work along Slipe Pen Road in Kingston.

They are calling for several open trenches to be fixed urgently.

One woman, who works at one of two schools in the vicinity, explained that the strong smell emanating from the open trenches is unbearable and has affected the young students.

She also expressed concern that her disabled daughter or other students who traverse the area may fall into the holes.

One resident recounted how she almost fell into one of the trenches while walking in the area late one evening.

She said the trenches are often difficult to manoeuvre, adding that pedestrians, including young children, have to walk in the roadway to prevent injury.
