A taxi operator was killed in a motor vehicle crash in Runaway Bay, St. Ann, on Thursday.

Dead is 43 year old Damion Francis of Main Street, Runaway Bay.

Reports are that about 10:45 a.m. Francis was driving his black Toyota wish motor car towards  St. Ann’s Bay, when upon reaching the Ricketts Drive intersection, the taxi was hit by a white Isuzu Elf motor truck, that was being driven in the opposite direction, towards Discovery Bay.

It’s reported that the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle and it drifted to the right side of the road and collided with the side of the taxi.

The taxi driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to the St. Ann’s Bay Hospital where he was admitted for treatment.

Francis died while undergoing treatment the following day.

Investigations continue.
