Reggae singer Jah Bouks is mourning the passing of his mother Patricia Panton, better known as Mama Zyon.

Mama Zyon has passed away in Ghana where she was living for the last 8 years.

Music News caught up with Jah Bouks earlier today just before he took a flight to Ghana.

Mama Zyon played an active role in promoting Jah Bouks in the early days of his career and was instrumental in pushing his biggest song Call Angola to audiences in Europe, Africa and Jamaica.

It is reported that she was found unconscious in her apartment on Sunday night and declared brain dead by doctors when taken to hospital.

She was an active member of the Jamaican diaspora in Ghana. She was 65 years old.
