Action taken against school bus driver for 14 speeding violations – Vaz
Action has been taken against one of the drivers employed under the Rural School Bus Programme after he reportedly recorded 14 speeding violations.
The programme was rolled out yesterday at the official start of the new school year, with 53 buses deployed islandwide.
In a post on X Monday evening, Transport Minister Daryl Vaz posted an image of a driving behavior report with trip date Sunday, September 7, 2025.
In the caption, Mr. Vaz said in the interest of transparency, he can share that one driver was recorded having 14 speeding violations.
The Minister said action has been taken by the authorities, as this is unacceptable.
He added that the technology works and the Ministry is committed to ensuring the highest standards are maintained.
Meantime, Mr. Vaz said the bus programme rollout was successful, despite some issues, including a minor accident in St. Ann and technical challenges in other parishes.
He said these issues would have been resolved for today.
