Central Kingston seat returned to JLPs Donovan Williams following EOJ official count
The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has welcomed the result of yesterday’s official ballot count for the Central Kingston constituency which saw Donovan Williams being returned to the seat.
The preliminary count after the general polls on Wednesday had Steve McGregor of the People’s National Party as the winner.
McGregor was ahead by 12, with a vote count of 4,739, over Williams’ 4,727.
Following the official count, Williams now has 4,832 votes, which is 79 more than McGregor’s 4,753.
JLP communication task force chairman Abka Fitz-Henley told Irie F M News that the outcome was not a surprise given Williams’ purposeful work in the constituency and good relations with a wide cross-section of constituents.
And, speaking with reporters at the counting centre last evening, Fitz-Henley expressed appreciation to the constituents for their support.
The result now gives the JLP 35 seats in parliament and reduces the PNP’s to 28.
