The island’s two main political parties have expressed concern about the long lines and the time it took to vote at a number of the polling stations today.

Electors turned up at polling stations across the island between 7:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. to choose the country’s leaders for the next five years.

Speaking to IRIE FM News this afternoon, General Secretary of the Jamaica Labour Party, Dr. Horace Chang said while today was a good day, he believed the voting process could have been better.

He said due to the long lines and slow voting, a number of voters were frustrated.

However, he said despite this concern, he believes the party got the job done.

In the meantime, the People’s National Party’s Donna Scott Mottley also noted that the slow voting process was the main area of concern today.

She also believes that the PNP will be crowned winners when the ballots are counted tonight.
