The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says members on interdiction and suspension are not ordinarily included on the special services voters’ list.

The clarification comes,  in response to concerns raised by some interdicted members whose names did not appear on the special services voters’ list, which includes members of the JCF, Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) and election day workers.

Some interdicted JCF members said  they were not able to cast their ballots, in the early voting exercise on friday.

In a statement,  the High Command explained  that because these members are not expected to report for duty on election day,  they are required to vote with the general population on Wednesday September 3.

25,938 of the 45,455 eligible special services electors cast their ballots on Friday. 

The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) report said this represents a voter turnout of  57 %. 

In the by-elections for Chancery Hall, Olympic Gardens and Denham Town,  turnout stood at 50%.

Ballots from special services electors remain sealed and will be counted along with general population ballots, on election day.
