National female cyclist Lori Sharpe undergoes successful surgery

Irie Fm sports have confirmed that national female cyclist Lori Sharpe completed a successful surgery on her right ankle on Thursday, a little over a week after she was hit from her bike in St Catherine. 

Last Wednesday August 20, during her early morning routine, Sharpe was injured after being hit from her bike by a motorist along the Spanish town by-pass . 

The 24 year old , who is in her second year with usa team Legion, sustained a fractured shoulder blade, and bruises in the incident, and it was later discovered that her ankle was broken. 

Her bicycle was also badly damaged and deemed irreparable.

Sharpe had been preparing to compete in criterium races in St Louis, Maryland, and Pennsylvania USA this week, followed by the Tour De Bim in Barbados from September 25 to 28. 

She was also set to defend her title at the Caribbean Cycling Championships in Belize from October 9–13, where she landed gold last year .

Sharpe is the first Jamaican cyclist, male or female, to ride for a UCI road team and previously she spent two seasons racing for Canyon//Sram Generation  in Germany.
