2 political commentators say they do not believe this evening’s leadership debate will have a major impact on the September 3 general election

Two political commentators do not believe this evening’s leadership debate will have a major impact on the September 3 general election.

Leader of the Jamaica Labour Party Dr. Andrew Holness will go up against People’s National Party President Mark Golding.

The debate is set to begin at 9 pm this evening.

The 90-minute debate is the culmination of the three debates in the 2025 general election debates series.

The 2 previous debates had representatives of the country’s two main political parties engaged in team debates last Saturday on social issues and the economy on Tuesday.

Speaking to IRIE FM News this morning, political commentator Linton Gordon said unless either of the two leaders performs poorly, he does not expect the result to shift the outcome of the election.

Mr. Gordon said he expects that the leaders will seek to strengthen the weak areas by their team members during the previous debates.

For his part Kevin O’brien Chang said he does not believe debates have a major impact on the outcome of elections.
