PM Holness says Gov’t and Jamaicans are deeply shaken and heart broken over tragic incident in Moneague

Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says the Government and Jamaicans are deeply shaken and heart broken, by the tragic incident in Moneague, St. Ann, wherein two young children were found dead, under horrific circumstances.

Dr. Holness extended condolences to the grieving mother and other relatives as well as the wider community, who he says must now grapple with this unimaginable pain and loss.

He says no parent should ever have to endure such a tragedy and as a country Jamaica mourns alongside them.

The Prime Minister says as a society, Jamaica must be vigilant in safe guarding the well being of children, adding that whenever there are signs that they may be at risk, it is important that action is taken to protect them.

He states that the Government remains committed to strengthening systems of support for families and ensuring that agencies are responsive in situations where children may be endangered.

The Prime Minister adds that protecting the most vulnerable is not only a duty of the state, but also a responsibility of each and every citizen.
