The Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) is calling on the authorities to address an oil discharge in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland.
JET said it received a complaint about the incident from a resident last month.
The trust said it reached out to the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) and while the issue has been addressed partially, there is need for a full clean-up.
JET’s Chief Executive Officer Dr. Theresa Rodriquez- Moodie is urging NEPA to take immediate enforcement action, ensure full cleanup and restoration and provide transparent progress updates.
NEPA told IRIE FM News that it is collecting information on the matter.
It declined to provide further comments.
