PNP to make changes to the Rural School Bus programme if it forms the next gov’t

The People’s National Party, (PNP) says if it forms the next government, the rural school bus system will not continue in its current form.

PNP member, Damion Crawford made the statement during the Social Issues Political Debate, last evening.

The bus system has been a topic of public discourse, with the PNP expressing concern that the buses imported from the United States are unsafe.

However, the government maintains that the buses are safe.

Responding to a question posed by Irie FM’s Natalie Campbell during the debate, Mr. Crawford said if the PNP is victorious at the September 3 polls, aspects of the system being rolled out for the new school year, will be discontinued.

In his rebuttal, Jamaica Labour Party Member Pearnel Charles Junior said his party is committed to keeping Jamaica’s children safe.

The Economic Debate will be held on Tuesday, August 26, while the leaders of both parties will face off on Thursday, August 28.
