189 candidates were nominated today for the September 3 general election.

Director of Elections Glaspole Brown told IRIE FM News that the process went smoothly, except for a few issues.

He said in some areas, including South West St. Elizabeth some candidates showed up after nominations ended.

Mr. Brown said 54 candidates from two other political parties and 9 independent candidates were also nominated.

He said 6 candidates were nominated for the by elections slated for Chancery Hall, Olympic Gardens, and Denham Town in Kingston and St. Andrew.
