Nomination day activities are well underway with candidates and their supporters across the island in a jubilant mood and expressing confidence .

Director of Elections, Glaspole Brown reported that all nomination centres for the general elections opened on time, without any issue.

Nominations are being conducted at designated centres across the 63 constituencies.

The two major political parties – the Jamaica Labour Party and the People’s National Party – are expected to nominate a full slate of candidates today.

Some of the candidates are slated to be nominated this morning and others have been scheduled for the afternoon.

They have until 2 P.M. to conduct the nominations.

Providing an update to IRIE FM News, Mr. Brown said several candidates have so far been nominated, without problems.
