The Ministry of Education has announced that the new school year will begin on Monday, September 1, 2025; however, there will be a break in classes on Wednesday, September 3 to facilitate the general election.
According to the ministry, schools will reopen on September 1 as scheduled for orientation and other administrative activities.
Students who do not require orientation will not be asked to attend classes on that day.
In a statement, the ministry said that all schools will be closed on Tuesday, September 2 and Wednesday, September 3.
This is to allow for the preparation and execution of the general election, as several schools are expected to serve as polling stations.
The ministry further advised that on September 4 and 5, schools will resume orientation and administrative activities using teaching and learning modalities determined by school leadership, based on local circumstances.
Full resumption of face-to-face classes across all schools is set for Monday, September 8, 2025.
