One taxi group has expressed concern about the holding of 2 political mass rallies in Kingston on Sunday, citing political tension, and has called for either a change in location or rescheduled date.

The Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services, (TODSS), described the situation as a bad move.

On Sunday August 10, the Jamaica Labour Party will be hosting a meeting in Half-Way-Tree, while the People’s National Party will be meeting in Cross Roads.

The JLP mass rally will start at 4 p.m., with the main address to be delivered by Party Leader Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness.

While the PNP meeting is set to begin at 6 p.m., with Party President Mark Golding expected to address supporters.

Todss President Egeton Newman said with the recent spike in political tension between supporters of the 2 parties, it’s not wise to have them gathered so close. 

Mr. Newman noted that while senior members of the 2 parties may have their own security details, regular supporters do not.
