Political Analyst Linton Gordon, says Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness’ battle with the Integrity Commission (IC) may affect him in the next general election, but maybe not as significantly, as some expect.
His comment follows recent reports that Dr. Holness’ legal team will be advancing the appeal regarding the matter involving the IC.
This comes after Supreme Court judge Justice Althea Jarrett issued a ruling last Thursday, concerning applications made on behalf of Dr. Holness relating to the lawsuit filed against the IC.
The suit pertains to investigations by the IC into Dr. Holness’ statutory declarations.
The judge ruled against striking out parts of the Director of Information’s affidavit, as being scandalous, irrelevant and an abuse of process, as was applied for by the Prime Minister’s legal team.
Following the ruling there have been fresh media reports on the Prime Minister’s finances.
Some have suggested that these issues could affect the JLP at the next general election which is expected by September.
Speaking with IRIE FM News yesterday, Mr. Gordon said the Prime Minister challenging the IC is inconsistent with the approach that is expected of the leader of government.
Mr. Gordon said he believes the Prime Minister should lead the country in the direction of accountability.
