Sporting community mourns Don Wehby’s passing
The sporting community is continuing to pay tribute to business leader Don Wehby following his passing on the weekend.
Cricket West Indies in a statement yesterday says his love for the game was matched by his desire to see it governed with purpose and integrity adding that in chairing the cricket west indies governance reform task force, Don authored what we now call the Wehby report (2020), a bold and necessary call to reform.
The statement adds that it was a framework rooted in principle, shaped by consultation, and guided by the belief that West Indies Cricket, like the region it represents, deserves the very best of itself.
The local governing body for track and field the JAAA’S expressed deep sadness at the passing of a distinguished statesman and renowned business leader
JAAA President Garth Gayle says, “Wehby was a cornerstone in the building of our sport adding that his tangible support to our teams, individuals, and development programs ensured continuous success “.
The Inter-Secondary School Sports Association ISSA says Wehby’s contribution extended beyond sponsorships as he played a significant role in helping ISSA develop greenfield media adding that he also assisted in building their organizational structure and leadership capacity.
ISSA says Wehby’s unwavering support for national and youth development particularly through sports made their partnership a truly special one.
