The need for Speid – Cavalier boss joins Reggae Boyz staff as Technical Advisor

Successful Jamaica Premier League coach Rudolph Speid, has been added to the technical staff of the National Senior football team ahead of the start of the final round of World Cup qualifiers.

Speid, who led Cavalier FC to three Jamaica National Premier League titles and the Concacaf Caribbean Club Championship crown, has been appointed as technical advisor to Reggae Boyz head coach Steve McCLaren.

The head of the JFF Technical and Development Committee who is also currently pursuing his pro licence, sealed the deal with McClaren and JFF President Michael Ricketts when they met in Jamaica last week, when coach McClaren was on the island.

Ricketts explained to Irie FM Sports that the JFF Board of Directors sanctioned the move two days ago.

The Reggae Boyz are down to face Caribbean teams Trinidad and Tobago, Bermuda and Curacao in the final round of World Cup qualifiers and the success of Speid with Caribbean teams makes him a big asset to the program at this time.

The Reggae Boyz will open the final round of World Cup qualifiers away to Bermuda on September 5 and 4 days later will face Trinidad and Tobago inside the National Stadium.
