E-TOC reports overall 30% progress rate for implementation of recommendations in Jamaica Education Transformation Commission report; 17 initiatives finalised
The Education, Transformation Oversight Committee (E-TOC) is reporting an overall 30 per cent progress rate for the implementation of recommendations outlined in the Jamaica Education Transformation Commission (JETC) report.
E-TOC has been charged with monitoring the implementation of 365 recommendations of the Professor Orlando Patterson chaired Commission.
Launched in July 2020, the JETC was mandated to comprehensively review and assess Jamaica’s education system, including its structure, operation and processes, as well as recommend an action plan for change.
E-TOC Chairman, Dr. Adrian Stokes, provided a quarterly update during a press conference at Jamaica House this morning.
He said the 30 per cent overall progress rate is a positive increase from the 23 per cent progress reported at the last quarterly briefing.
Meanwhile, Dr. Stokes noted that work continues on the plan to modernize the Education Ministry, preparing it to lead a world-class education sector.
He added that the Mona School of Business is continuing its assistance in the Ministry’s reform.
