Dancehall stars Wayne Marshall and Govana support W.I cricket
In a spirited show of support for the game of cricket, dancehall artistes Wayne Marshall and Govana have refuted claims that the sport is dead in Jamaica.
Speaking with cricket commentator Nikhil Uttamchandani, Wayne Marshall dismissed notions that Jamaicans have lost interest in the sport. The Overcome singer said despite the West Indies’ devastating loss to Australia in the recent Test Series, Jamaicans are still proud to don the colours of the team and show up, no matter what.
Meanwhile, Govanna, said he continues to support the game because of his love for the sport. The Four Storey hitmaker recalled playing cricket while attending St George’s College and urged the government and relevant authorities to place more support behind the sport.
The duo was at Sabina Park attending one of Andre Russell’s farewell matches leading up to his retirement from international cricket.
