JCF to employ strategic covert operations to promptly apprehend vandals who target JUTC buses

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says it will employ strategic covert operations to promptly identify and apprehend individuals involved in vandalism against buses owned by the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC).

This follows the activation of a special joint JCF/JUTC response to a recent spate of stone-throwing incidents.

Yesterday, the JUTC reported that ten stoning incidents happened in sections of Kingston, St. Andrew, and St. Catherine since July 16.

The situation prompted the state-owned bus company to briefly discontinue its services along routes 30, 32 and 47 on Friday evening.

Following a high-level meeting between the JCF and the JUTC yesterday, both parties committed to addressing the matter with the utmost seriousness and urgency.

In addition to the strategic covert deployments, the response includes heightened mobile and static points along vulnerable routes, especially in known hotspots.

There will also be monthly joint JCF/JUTC reviews to ensure ongoing effectiveness and strategic refinement, as well as technical collaboration with public and private stakeholders to support identification, evidence gathering and prosecution.
