Dr. Holness cites unemployment rate as indicator that Jamaica is doing much better now, compared to a decade ago
Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness has cited the new unemployment rate as an indicator that Jamaica is doing much better now, compared to a decade ago.
The Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) had reported that the unemployment rate fell from 4.2 percent in April 2024, to 3.3 percent, in April 2025.
STATIN said the number of persons unemployed declined by 12,800.
Speaking at a social housing event in St. Catherine yesterday, Dr. Holness pointed out that years ago, the focus was on poverty.
He said, with more persons being employed now and being able to earn an income, shows that the country is on the path to prosperity.
