The National Water Commission (NWC) is reviewing designs that will guide the rehabilitation of the Hermitage Dam in St. Andrew.
This as part of plans to increase the dam’s storage capacity.
Speaking at a special Post Cabinet press briefing yesterday, acting president of the NWC Garth Jackson noted that during droughts, the water levels at both Hermitage and the Mona Reservoir, are impacted.
Currently, both facilities are below the desired 65 percent capacity.
Mr. Jackson says there is a need to increase storage at Hermitage, and the NWC is considering various options.
He says the NWC is reviewing the designs for the first phase of the Hermitage Dam rehabilitation.
