PNP General Secretary Dr. Dayton Campbell rejects comments that chants of “blood and fire”used on the campaign trail promote violence and signal aggression
People’s National Party (PNP) General Secretary and Campaign Director, Dr. Dayton Campbell is again rejecting comments that chants of “blood and fire” used on the campaign trail promote violence and signal aggression.
The most recent criticism came from Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) General Secretary and National Security Minister, Dr. Horace Chang who warned that political rhetoric, suggesting violence is irresponsible and unbecoming of anyone seeking to lead.
But Dr. Campbell, speaking at a PNP Parish Meeting in Chapelton Square, Clarendon on Saturday, said the phrase has been misinterpreted.
He explained that “blood” refers to the blood of Jesus Christ and “fire” represents the Holy Spirit both religious references, not calls to violence.
