Phase one of the Westlands Port Expansion Project at the Kingston Freeport Terminal is expected to cost the Government about US$80 million.

This project will expand the terminal’s infrastructure, increase cargo handling capacity, and improve operational efficiency at the terminal, thereby reinforcing Jamaica’s position as a leading transhipment hub in the region.

It signals a strategic investment in Jamaica’s economic growth and showcases the strength of public-private partnerships in national development.

The project is expected to unlock new opportunities for trade, job creation, and regional competitiveness.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony today, Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness noted that this will solidify Jamaica’s role as a powerhouse in global logistics.

He noted that the project also involves the relocation of the Tinson Pen Aerodrome and the rerouting of the Marcus Garvey Boulevard.
