Principal says gov’t should implement policy that allows for parents of misbehaving students to be fined

Principal of Alphansus Davis High in Clarendon George Henry says the government should implement a policy that allows school administrators to punish students who misbehave, and requires their parents to pay a fine.

He was speaking at the school’s graduation ceremony recently.

Mr. Henry said the measure might force parents to pay greater attention to the conduct of their children in school.

The principal said during the school year, some students displayed poor behaviour.

He said many of the offending students lacked parental guidance.

Turning to school resource issues, Mr. Henry, said there is a shortage of furniture and the need for a new school bus.

He called for urgent action from Education Minister Dr. Dana Morris Dixon.
