SERHA monitoring situation at some public health facilities in Kingston after several ambulance drivers staged sick-out yesterday

The South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) says it is monitoring the situation at some public health facilities in Kingston after several ambulance drivers reportedly stayed off the job yesterday.

The workers who called in sick are upset about outstanding salary payments.

Regional Director of SERHA, Lascelles Brown, told IRIE FM News that some drivers in the Liguanea Region and at the Kingston Public Hospital stayed off the job.

However, he said normal operations were not adversely impacted.

He added that contingencies are in place, which will see drivers from other facilities across the region being engaged.

Mr. Brown said external providers may also be utilized.

The Regional Director stated that adjustments will be made as needed to ensure that service delivery is maintained at all healthcare facilities.
