CARICOM Chair Dr. Andrew Holness assures that Jamaica will continue to press for climate justice and finance
Prime Minister, Dr. Andrew Holness has sought to assure that Jamaica will continue to press for climate justice and finance.
Dr. Holness, who is also CARICOM’s Chair gave the assurance during the opening session of the 49th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM in St. James, yesterday.
He pointed to the flash flooding in Texas in the United States, which has claimed the lives of more than 80 people.
He said while the tragedy is undeniable, the impact on the U.S. financial infrastructure will not be as damaging as it would be if the same event had occurred in one of the Caribbean nations.
Dr. Holness stressed that this vulnerability of the Caribbean region should inspire continued advocacy regarding climate justice and financing.
