Former West Indies cricketer Marlon Samuels invests in Guyana’s real estate sector

Marlon Samuels, the former Jamaican and West Indies international cricketer renowned for his pivotal performances in two ICC T20 World Cup finals, has joined a growing wave of high-profile investors signalling strong confidence in Guyana’s economic transformation.

Samuels, who earned the nickname “The Icon” during his cricketing career, has officially become a resident and investor in Guyana. His entry into the local business landscape comes as the country experiences unprecedented economic growth, driven largely by developments in its oil and gas sector and the expansion of supporting industries.

The retired athlete has acquired seven properties in the TAJ DIAMOND—a newly planned, upscale community located within the rapidly developing East Bank corridor, specifically the area stretching from Diamond to Buzz Bee Dam. Of the seven units, one will serve as his primary residence, while the remaining six are being positioned as part of a structured rental investment strategy.

Nicola Mola, the lead developer for the Guyana project, said:

“We’re very pleased that Marlon Samuels, THE ICON, has chosen TAJ DIAMOND as both a resident and investor. His involvement adds energy, visibility, and validation to what’s quickly becoming one of Guyana’s most transformative communities. Stay tuned, more exciting announcements are on the way!”

Samuels, who has travelled extensively over the course of his cricketing career, expressed his admiration for the TAJ DIAMOND development and the broader potential of the Guyanese market:

“I’ve travelled the world thanks to cricket, and I can say with confidence that Guyana is poised for something big,” he said. “After decades of playing cricket, my favorite hotel in the world remains the Taj Mahal in India. So after learning about the TAJ DIAMOND project, I truly believe it captures the beauty and excellence of Guyana. I’ve been visiting this country for many years, and in my view, there’s no other development quite like this. As I like to say—it’s iconic.”

Developed by Coastal Rim Properties, a U.S.-based real estate firm with over 50 years of large-scale global development experience, TAJ DIAMOND will feature:

  • 249 three-story luxury homes with private two-car garages
  • Gated access and 24/7 armed security patrols
  • Resort-style amenities including a clubhouse, pool, cinema, and fitness center
  • 40,000 sq. ft. of premium retail and dining, anchored by Morton’s The Steakhouse and other leading brands
  • An optional fixed 14% yield leaseback program, offering passive income to buyers with full- service management
