Kingston Night Market to honour Mutabaruka and other industry stalwarts as part of International Reggae Day celebrations
IRIE FM’s Mutabaruka, revolutionary dub poet and philosopher, is among several industry greats to be honoured by Kingston Night Market in tandem with International Reggae Day celebrations today, July 1.
Themed around honouring the pioneers and powerhouses of Reggae, the event taking place from 6 pm to 11 pm at 8 Hillcrest Avenue in Kingston will pay tribute to industry players who have been instrumental in shaping the culture, voice, and spirit of the community.
Other industry stalwarts to be honoured at the event tonight, include, Reggae superstar, Sizzla Kalonji, legendary guitarist Earl “Chinna” Smith, Tony Rebel, Turbulence, Prof I, Chi Ching Ching, Herbie Miller, Jackie Knight Campbell and French Reggae artiste David Cairol.
Mutabaruka is host of IRIE FM’s Cutting Edge and Stepping Razor which airs 10pm-2am on Wednesdays and 2pm-6pm on Thursdays respectively.
