Graduation at Beecham Hill Primary overshadowed by murder of assistant teacher

Sadness hangs over the Beecham Hill Infant and Primary School in Richmond, St. Mary, following the murder of one of its assistant teachers.

Dead is 21-year-old D’Johnnay Graham of Flint River, in Richmond.

She was fatally shot by a police constable said to be her boyfriend.

Reports areĀ  that about 9:15 pm, a dispute developed between the cop and Graham.

During the altercation the constable allegedly pulled his service pistol and shot Graham in the head.

He then turned the gun on himself, inflicting a wound to his head.

Both Graham and the cop were taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead and he was admitted for treatment.

In the meantime, arrangements are being made for grief counselling to be provided to Graham’s school family, at Beecham Hill Infant and Primary.

A representative from the school told Irie FM News, that today was expected to be a day of celebration , with the graduation ceremony, set to get underway.

However, she expressed that the murder, has left the school community in a sombre mood, as Ms. Graham was jovial, and got along well with those she worked with.

Meanwhile, the Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM, is probing the case of murder and attempted suicide.

Assistant Commissioner Hamish Campbell said the constable will be subjected to a full investigation.
