Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says Jamaicans must be wary of promises to address poverty as these could result in greater issues for the economy.

He made the statement at the launch of the Solidarity Programme in Kingston this morning.

Under the Solidarity Programme, cash grants, starting at $20,000 will be provided for vulnerable Jamaicans.

Dr. Holness said while some proposed policies to address poverty may sound good, they may result in  income inequality.
