Fewer than 15 murders were recorded each week in the past 14 weeks.
This was disclosed by Minister of National Security, Dr. Horace Chang during the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Transformation Expo.
Noting the reduction in murders, Dr. Chang attributed the results to the transformation of the JCF
Dr. Chang further revealed that April to June is on track to record the lowest quarterly murders in decades.
The minister also commended the St. James Police for a 75% decline in murders.
The parish recorded only 1 homicide in May.
Dr. Chang highlighted that Jamaica is entering a new era, coming from decades of under investment in the police force.
