The Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) has asserted that recent actions by the Andrew Holness-led Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), expose a deliberate and accelerating drift towards autocracy. 

Among the actions cited by the PNP is Dr. Holness’ declaration that his administration does not need an opposition because its supporters hold it accountable. 

PNP General Secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell argues that such rhetoric frames the Opposition not as a legitimate competitor but as an existential enemy. 

He warns that such actions signal an intent for permanent rule, not democratic governance.

According to Dr. Campbell, the PNP will challenge the autocratic trajectory relentlessly, using every constitutional means.
