Omi silent on frozen ‘Cheerleader’ royalties
International star Omi is remaining tight-lipped about the frozen royalties tied to the Felix Jaehn remix of his global hit Cheerleader.
During his Road To Success interview on the Easy Skankin show with Kshema Francis on Thursday, Omi was asked for an update on the situation stemming from a copyright infringement lawsuit in France. The case, filed in 2020 and won in 2023, centered around the Cheerleader remix — but reports suggest that millions in royalties remain frozen.
When asked about it, Omi revealed that he has been advised not to speak publicly on the matter.
The Clarendon native, who took the world by storm with Cheerleader, is currently working independently on his upcoming album. No release date has been announced for the untitled project.
In the meantime, Omi is promoting his latest single, Poker Face.
