Manchester police urge licensed firearm holders to exercise due care in securing weapons

The Manchester police are urging licensed firearm holders to exercise due care in securing their weapons.

The reminder was made during yesterday’s meeting of the Manchester Municipal Corporation.

It follows the death of four-year-old Gia Griniell at her home in Ingleside, Mandeville, on May 20.

It has been reported that Gia’s mother had put her two children to bed, then later heard a loud explosion.

Acting Territorial Officer for Manchester, Inspector Berthlyn Lloyd, appealed for persons to be more responsible.

In the meantime, a minute of silence was observed during the meeting to honour Gia.

The child’s father is an employee at the Manchester Municipal Corporation.
